Tear Lab is... A diagnostic test intended to measure the osmolarity of human tears to aid in the diagnosis of dry eye disease in patients suspected of having dry eye disease, in conjunction with other methods of clinical evaluation.
Osmolarity is an important biomarker of ocular surface health and is informative when the results are abnormal or normal.
A STUDY PRESENTED AT AAO†Found: "All patients with contact lens discomfort and less than 8 hours of daily wear time had abnormal osmolarity. These patients were put on a treatment to reduce osmolarity levels, resulting in an average increase of 4.6 hours in daily contact lens wear time."
